Michael E. Mone Jr.
Michael is a highly regarded trial attorney with years of experience representing clients in a wide range of personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death claims. Michael’s clients often find themselves going through one of the worst times of their life having suffered a catastrophic, life altering injury, or having lost a loved one. Michael is relentless in fighting for his clients. He is an experienced, skilled, and courageous trial attorney, but one of his greatest attributes is his ability to listen. Michael always takes the time to listen to his clients to learn their stories, understand their pain, and determine how best to achieve justice for them and their families. It is Michael’s ability to connect with his clients and clearly communicate their story that makes him such an effective advocate.
Michael is the founder and principal of MICHAEL MONE LAW. He has been practicing law for nearly 30 years representing clients who have sustained catastrophic, permanent, life altering injuries or death, through no fault of their own.
Michael grew up in Brockton, MA. His mother worked as a nurse at a local hospital and his father was a lawyer in Boston. Michael was taught by his parents to have compassion and empathy for all. They instilled in Michael the importance of hard work, giving back to your community, helping those in need, and using your talents to make the world a better place. That might sound trite, but in the Mone household, it was gospel.
Michael attended Brockton Public Schools through junior high before enrolling at Cardinal Spellman High School, where he was captain of the basketball team his senior year. After graduating from Spellman, Michael attended Skidmore College in Saratoga, Springs, NY. During the summers, Michael worked at the Brockton Fair and waited on tables at a restaurant in Buzzards Bay. Michael graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Skidmore College with a B.A. in Government. He went on to attend Boston College Law School. After graduation from law school, Michael worked as a prosecutor in the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he gained valuable experience trying cases to juries in both the District and Superior Court.
Michael left the DA’s office in 1999 to join his father at Esdaile, Barrett, Jacobs & Mone (formerly Esdaile, Barrett & Esdaile) and begin his career in civil litigation as a trial attorney representing victims of personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.
Michael credits this decision as one of the best he ever made. The opportunity to learn trial practice from legal giants like Newt Esdaile, Charlie Barrett, Norman Jacobs, Jim Esdaile, and most especially, Michael’s father, Michael Mone, Sr., was a transformational experience. Michael learned from the very best and carries those lessons with him every day.
Michael has dedicated his professional life to helping people harmed by the carelessness of others. In doing so, he earned the reputation as a highly skilled trial attorney in high-stakes litigation involving birth injuries, construction site accidents, delay in cancer diagnosis, and complex car crashes, to name just a few.
Michael is the founder and principal of MICHAEL MONE LAW. He has been practicing law for nearly 30 years representing clients who have sustained catastrophic, permanent, life altering injuries or death, through no fault of their own.
As the firm’s principal and founder, Michael is a premier personal injury attorney in Boston, MA specializing in medical malpractice, motor vehicle, construction, premises and products liability. Drawing on his nearly 30 years of experience trying both civil and criminal cases in Massachusetts Courts, Michael is dedicated to achieving the best possible results for his clients, whether by jury verdict, settlement, arbitration or mediation. During his career representing clients grievously injured or killed due to the negligence of someone else, Michael has obtained some of the largest verdicts and settlements in Massachusetts.
Few lawyers can match the breadth of Michael’s legal experience. As an assistant district attorney, Michael was a voice for the victims of crime, trying numerous cases to verdict in both District and Superior Court, while ensuring the rights of the accused were respected. Michael has represented hundreds of plaintiffs who have suffered grievous personal injuries or who have lost a loved one. He has represented lawyers facing accusations of professional misconduct, afraid they might be suspended from the practice of law, and he has represented doctors and nurses concerned they might lose their personal savings. Because he believed the rule of law to applied to detainees held without charge or trial at Guantánamo, he volunteered to represent some of the most reviled individuals in the history of this country. Michael knows what it is like to have a hand in exercising the power of the state and what it is like to defend an individual against that powerful machine. He understands the pain his clients feel as a result of a debilitating injury, or the loss of a loved one, and he works tirelessly to ensure they receive fair and just compensation for the harm they have sustained.
