During the course of his legal career, Michael has achieved great success for his clients and is highly respected by his peers. Michael has been named to The Best Lawyers in America for medical malpractice since 2016, and he has been selected for inclusion in the Massachusetts Super Lawyers listing every year since 2005. Michael was also selected by LAWDRAGON in 2018 as one of the 500 leading lawyers in America, and in 2024 he was named to the Boston Magazine “Top Lawyers” list for Medical Malpractice (Plaintiff).

In 2022, Michael was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers. The College is an invitation-only Fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers from the United States and Canada who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism, and collegiality. Admission to the College is by invitation only and is limited to no more than 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province.

Michael is an active member of the bar and contributes his time and energy to improving the profession through his service on bar association committees and panels. Michael is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) where he served on the Executive Management Board, the House of Delegates, the ABA Nominating Committee, and the Governance Committee. He was named as the MBA representative to the Joint Bar Committtee on Judicial Appointments where he served for six years and chaired the Committee from 2011-2012. Michael is also a member of the American Association of Justice, and a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, where he served a term on the Board of Governors.

Like many lawyers, Michael believes the practice of law is enhanced, and by extension the rights of clients are protected and their claims heard, when lawyers volunteer their time to improve the legal profession.

In addition to representing patients injured as a result of medical malpractice, Michael is often asked by defense attorneys to represent their clients as personal counsel when those doctors or nurses may be at risk of a jury verdict that exceeds the available limits of their insurance coverage. It is a testament to Michael’s reputation among his fellow members of the bar that he is asked to do this by lawyers he often opposes.
